ADULT CLASSES

The Art Center offers a wide variety of adult workshops and classes including painting and drawing classes, and clay workshops including hand-building and wheel-throwing classes. Pre-registration is required for all classes.
 

Beginner Drawing with Jordan Pehler

6-Week Session
Wednesday Nights, February 1st - March 14th  6:30-9:30pm
*$55/$65

Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing. A good foundation in drawing, knowledge of the principles and elements of art, is necessary to build your artistic abilities. Learn techniques and use of drawing tools or just freshen up on some of the basics,

 

Open Studio - Wheel Throwing

9-Week Session
Wednesday Nights, February 1st - March 28th  6:30-9:30pm
*$90 (plus clay, glazing & firing fees)

This class is intended for participants who have previously enrolled in an Art Center clay class. Students will work unsupervised and must be self-motivated. Cost of clay, firings and glazes are not included in the open studio fee.

 

Encaustic with Jordan Pehler

6-Week Session
Monday Nights, February 6th - March 12th  6:30-9:30pm
*$75/$80

Encaustic art works with a beeswax mixture and pigment on a variety of different surfaces. Encaustic is believed to be at least 2500 years old, and can be used to create complex paintings and collages, just like any other media such as oil and acrylic.

 

Wheel Thrown Pottery with Kevin Layton

8-Week Session
Tuesday Nights, February 28th - April 17th  6:30-9:30pm
*$115/$125

This class is open to beginning and advanced students. Advanced students will learn to throw teapots, cream and sugar sets and mixing bowls. Beginning students will learn the foundation of centering, cylinders and attaching handles.

 

Pysanky Egg Decorating with Keely Perkins

2 Sessions
Saturdays, March 24th and 31st  10:00am - Noon & 1 - 3pm
*$30/$40

Students will experiment with Ukrainian egg decoration. Using wax and dye, participants will design their own intricate details and patterns. This two day class is a great way to get in the Easter spirit.

 

Class sizes are limited so pre-registration is recommended. Payment of fees at the time of registration is required to insure a place in the class.

* Cost is reserved for Art Center Members.
